Maximize Your Symbian Phone Potensial

Maximize Your Symbian Phone Potensial!
The fact that this system will be abandoned start from 2016, it is quite unfortunate. Since this OS is still convenience for daily use, and this OS has some abilities that we (still) can not find it in other mobile platforms. Starting with always on screen saver.

Always-On Screen Saver
Screen saver yang always-on bukanlah sekedar hiasan belaka.

Automatic Profile Switching According to Situations

Maps That can be Accessed OFF the Line

(to be continued, insya-Allah)

[How to] Change the Default Paths in LibreOffice 4.0 in LinuxMint 14

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim.

Assalamu ‘alaykum for Muslim readers.

Today post is about how could we change the default paths in LibreOffice 4.0, in LinuxMint 14. Previously, so many people noticed that they, including me, were unable to change LibreOffice (version 3.6 which is pre-installed by default) paths (including Documents, Pictures, Templates, etc.) in Ubuntu 12.10 and LinuxMint 14. Attempt to change these through the usual way: ‘Tools | Options | Paths’ menu, then change each option; would do nothing.

Unable to change paths above? Try this tips!

Unable to change paths above? Try this tips!

But Alhamdu lillah!, by now, I found an interesting way to change those paths. Before changing those path manually, we have to do something like this:

  1. Go to ‘Tools | Options | General’
  2. Make the ‘Use LibreOffice dialogs’ in the ‘Open/Save dialogs’ checked.
  3. Click ‘OK’ button to apply the change.
Enabling the 'LibreOffice dialog' insya-a Allah will solve the problem.

Enabling the ‘LibreOffice dialog’ insya-a Allah will solve the problem.

And then, insya-a Allah, you will be able to change those paths we were talking about through the usual way like before the problem occured.

Hope to Allah this post will be useful.

[StarDict] Dictionary Database for Linux/Windows

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim.

StarDict is a dictionary tool available for Windows and Linux.

ss-stardict

If you already have this app installed, you might download the dictionary database below and use it offline.

http://www.4shared.com/zip/kb1xUiFz/dic-stardict.html

Windows users should extract the ‘dic’ folder inside the downloaded archive into the folder where StarDict installed. For example, if the StarDict was installed in ‘C:\Program Files\StarDict\’, extract the ‘dic’ folder and its content there.

Linux users have to extract the ‘dic’ folder into ‘~/.stardict’ (where ‘~’ is the user’s home directory. For example ‘/home/username/.stardict’).

Hope to Allah this post will be useful.

[Cinnamon 1.6] Losts “Enable Horizontal Scrolling” Checkbox in the “Mouse & Touchpad” Setting

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim.

Environment: LinuxMint 14, Cinnamon 1.6

Q: How to enable Horizontal Scrolling when you can’t find the option in Mouse & Touchpad setting?

ss-mouse-n-touchpad

A: Run ‘dconf-editor’. Go to branch: ‘org.gnome.settings-daemon.peripherals.touchpad’. Check the box of ‘horiz-scroll-enabled’ string to switch the Horizontal-Scrolling ON. Or uncheck it to switch it OFF.

Case Report: “Paste” Function Error in WhatsApp 2.8.29 for Symbian

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim.
Without further ado, if you did experience this kind of problem, just revert your version of WhatsApp back to the (more stable) previous version available in Nokia Store (WhatsApp 2.8.22).
To do this, firstly you have to uninstall the later version, which is 2.8.29 in my case. Be notice that by doing this, it can erase the conversation history, so make sure you have backed up the important message(s). After that, go to the Store, then download & install the 2.8.22 version of WhatsApp which is available there.
InsyaAllah the “Paste” function will recover.
[EDIT] The latest WhatsApp 2.8.3 insyaAllah will not have this “Copy and Paste” problem anymore. Yesterday I tried it myself and the problem didn’t occur.
